Hello everyone. I’m mom of five married 23 years. I spent 20 years homeschooling and still have 2 in the furnace. I am completing my Master’s degree in Political Science at the UC Denver, writing my final project this semester on Education for Refugee Girls and Boys in the Middle East for graduation in May. I will be looking for employment after graduation. I have served 20 years in the church, and my undergrad is from Colorado Christian University in Organizational Management in Christian Leadership. While I love serving one on one and in teams, I would like to use my diversity training and education to organize community programs or push for public policy changes both in the US and abroad regarding assistance for refugees from the Middle East. I participated with Global Hope Network International as an intern helping them conduct their international leadership training conference in Geneva for four weeks in May and June, and carried out an independent study program in Jordan in October, also for four weeks, on Education for Refugee Girls in Jordan. Our political science department head Dr. Michael Cummings personally oversaw my program and is my first reviewer on my final project, and I have also had the teaching and oversight of Professor Bassem Hassan from Egypt. My undergrad project was on the Saudi Student Scholarship program and creating a multi-cultural club, something that is already organized by the Muslim students – mostly Saudis – at UCD. I am currently seeking a certificate in Leadership and Diversity Training and I am part of the initial cohort of this new program at UCD. |
