Biography |
Emily Rose Proctor (formerly Emily Martin), grew up in Dothan, AL, and graduated magna cum laude from Williams College (MA) in 2003, where she won the Academy of American Poetry prize. From 2003-2004, Emily pursued a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship to explore the Church’s response to HIV/AIDS in South Africa, then spent a year as an Americorps volunteer in New Hampshire. She joined the leadership team of the Presbyterian AIDS Network (PAN) in 2005, and served as co-moderator from 2007-2011; she currently serves as the PAN representative to the PHEWA (Presbyterian Health, Education, and Welfare Association) board. Emily attended Columbia Theological Seminary, and was ordained in 2009. She currently serves as associate pastor at Brown Memorial Park Avenue Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, MD, where she is involved in faith-based community organizing and volunteers as a community-based HIV tester. |
