MemberIn his article, “The Divine Economy & A Theology of Debt,” the Rev. Dr. James A. Noel argues, first, that the condition of the American economy is as much a religious as it is a political concern. He proceeds then to posit a theology of debt, in which all humans are seen as indebted to one another and to God through Christ, thereby challenging any claim to pride (“I did this!”) and the growing gap between rich and poor. Do you agree? What would this theology say to those who defend the very wealthy from increased taxes and use distinguishing terms like “job creators”? If we were to hold true to this theology, what would result?

MemberIt was as if Almighty God took these sentences nailed to a church door and used them to shake up the world at that time. Might this happen again? Think of what could happen if Almighty God took a similar email and used it to shake the world and to turn a rebellious and recalcitrant world back to Jesus Christ and His Word. The teaching of the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament is that man should not get into debt and we are to own people nothing but love. Even that word love has been devalued in these present times. We require to know that God meant that we love with the love of Jesus which in New Testament terms is referred to as AGAPE love, and that love is very special indeed.

MemberNo matter where you turn, the economy springs forth as an ominous topic. Recession, inflation, and depression are words that consistently boom across the airwaves. In Financial Armageddon, John Hagee speaks skillfully to the problem. He weaves an accurate portrait of current instability by alluding to appropriate biblical passages conflated with notable quotations from leading Christian economists. Financial pundits have realized America was barreling ahead to certain economic disaster for almost a decade. Hagee wants Christians to have a game plan for survival.
